Peter Bergan, Founder

After earning a BS from LeMoyne College and serving in the U.S. Army, Peter went into the insurance business in 1954. He first worked for the Insurance Company of North America, and then in 1963 Peter purchased a small insurance agency in Union Springs. In 1968, Peter purchased the William “Ky” Young Agency, Inc., which was founded in 1929 as the Auburn Agency.

Peter is a New York State Licensed Property & Casualty Agent, Licensed Property & Casualty Broker and Licensed Life Agent. Peter and his wife Nancy have lived in Fleming for over 45 years.

Douglas Bergan

Douglas is responsible for internal management and customer service. He has a BS from LeMoyne College and a MS from Syracuse University. He joined the agency in 1987, and has handled both personal and commercial customers.

Douglas is a New York State Licensed Property & Casualty Agent, Licensed Property & Casualty Broker and Licensed Life Agent. Douglas is a resident of Auburn.

Patrick Bergan

Patrick is responsible for claims, sales and customer service. He has a BA from Niagara University and a JD from Albany Law School, where he was an associate editor of the Albany Law Review. He is admitted to practice law in New York and in Massachusetts.

Patrick received his initial insurance training at the Aetna Home Office Sales Course, which at the time was a six-week residential program in Hartford, Connecticut. He received awards for placing in the top five percent academically and for participation on the winning team in a course-long skills and case study competition. He has earned the Certified Insurance Counselor designation, which involves intensive classroom instruction followed by competitive examinations in five core areas of the insurance business. In order to maintain the CIC designation, as well as his legal and insurance licenses, Patrick devotes at least forty hours a year to continuing education.

Patrick is a New York State Licensed Property & Casualty Agent, Licensed Property & Casualty Broker and Licensed Life Agent. He lives in Sennett with his wife Amy and their children.

Patti Simone, Customer Service

Patti began her insurance career with the Lattimore Agency in Auburn before coming to us in 1994. She worked in our office until 2003, when she and her husband moved to the Capital District. Patti recently rejoined us after working for the Clients First Agency/Adirondack Trust Company – Insurance Division, where she was responsible for service on accounts generating at least fifty thousand dollars in premium.

Patti has just completed the requirements to earn her New York State Property & Casualty Broker License. Patti and her husband Joe live in Sennett.

John Bohall, Jr., Customer Service

John came to us from Triad Associates, where he had worked with his father for ten years. He holds a BS from SUNY Oswego. John’s focus is on farms, landlord business and personal lines. John is a resident of Weedsport. John is a New York State Licensed Property & Casualty Agent and Licensed Life Agent.

Mary Hunt, Customer Service

Mary came out of retirement to join our agency in 2007. She worked for many years for the Whittingham Agency in Skaneateles, handling a mix of personal, farm and commercial customers. She also worked for the Hartford Insurance Company for several years as a claims representative in Phoenix, Arizona. She lives in Skaneateles. Mary is a New York State Licensed Property & Casualty Broker.
